What people are saying about Betzavta
"As we get out of our cab I have absolutely no idea what we are in for, but moments later we are met by our hostess who welcomes us into her apartment. What follows is an unreal evening were we share a meal with complete strangers who seem like old friend by the end of the night. Delicious family recipes fill the apartment with beautiful aromas. We swap stories about our countries and our cultures, and laugh at ourselves and each other. If you want to truly know Tel Aviv, you must sit with the people that make it special."

"Out of all the reasons I could tell you about WHY you should visit Israel, the FOOD is definitely at the top of the list. During this entire week I was given some of the best meals I’ve eaten in my life. One experience that really stuck out to me was with Betzvata! It truly was a fantastic evening filled with excellent conversation with new friends, a delicious home-cooked Israeli meal, and a surprising amount of alcohol."
— DAVE from California
"My family traveled to Israel for 2 weeks and by far the most memorable meal we enjoyed was with the Barak family. The truth is that it is difficult as a tourist in any foreign country to interact with local over an intimate Shabbat dinner, but Betzavta provides this opportunity. My family left our meal with a new perspective on Israeli culture, society, and politics. We were all incredibly grateful to have chosen to dine with Betzavta, and we cannot recommend this program enough for anyone who travels to Israel"
— DAVID from Massachusetts
"I wasn't sure what to expect with Betzvata, but that evening and the friendships we made turned out to be the best time we had in Israel! The food was exceptional, and the local company was even better. We spent the night eating, sharing stories, laughing until we cried, and even a little bit of piano playing! Anyone traveling to Israel, Betzvata is a must."
— RACHEL from Ohio
"I fell in love with Israel all over again after having dinner in Tel-Aviv with five of the kindest strangers I had ever met.The conversation, the food, and the laughter created an unforgettable experience that brought together people from opposite sides of the world. In those few hours that we all gathered around the table, eating, drinking, and sharing our stories, I witnessed the breathtaking mosaic of Israeli life, and the unadulterated interactions between complete strangers who, by the end of the evening, became my friends. "

"Feel like going to friend's home for a dinner! Not only to try locals' homecooking dishes but also share each other's cultures and experience. I even meet the hosts' good friends. Exceed expectations; tasty food, very friendly people, funny chat, it makes my day! I am happy :) They were very hospitable and sociable, so as their friends. Love all food, especially the Hummus, yummy!!! Always interesting to see & know how it was made. "
— BAOBAO from Hong Kong
"More authentic than this it doesn’t get. Betzavta set us up with a family were mom cooked for like 12 starving families. When I walked into their house I could not believe my eyes, this was like a five stars hotel buffet. We introduced ourselves briefly, before dad opened the buffet with a short prayer and feast started. The food was delicious, the conversations very interesting and best of all it was a lot of fun! If you are looking for unique things to do in Israel this is definitely one of them as this is not something you will find in your guidebook! "
— TOM from Netherlands
"What a phenomenal and, above all, memorable experience we had! Our hosts were so friendly and we had no trouble making conversation. The meal was amazing and gave us a real taste of Israeli cuisine. Most people know that there is no better way to get acquainted with a new place than to meet the locals. Thanks to Betzavta for actually making this possible and so enjoyable!"
— AMANDA from Canada
"We had a wonderful dinner and evening with a great couple, Ori and Anna. This is a FANTASTIC program and a MUST for anyone who wants to have a true, authentic Israeli family experience."
— DEBI from Florida
"Being invited into a warm and welcoming family home for a shabbat dinner was definately one of the highlights of my trip. The food was delicious and would not have been able to eat this at a restaurant. Setting this up was also a relatively smooth process and flexibility to my altered travel schedule was also really appreciated. The hosts were great and we were in contact a week before the meal so when it came to meeting them, it didn't feel like I was meeting strangers."
— JING from Australia
"Before we met we emailed and Whatsapp few times, We exchanged pictures, so we felt a bit like already knowing each other. The food was amazing, Shikma must have spent the whole Friday preparing it. I really hope we get the chance to invite Shikma and her family back to our homes. We had a wonderful evening. It was the first time for our friends that they visited Israel and I think they can understand people a bit better. Thank you for this opportunity you gave us and especially the Klein family for the risk of inviting us."
— NICOLE from Germany
"Sharing a meal with Niv was an exciting cultural exchange. It was through this experience that I realized how food can create connections and bonds between people from many different cultures. At the begining, conversation was largely about food, but gradually we started sharing our experiences and stories, allowing a friendship to form much quicker than I originally expected. Would say that as I walked out the door that night, I knew I had made a friend in Israel, thanks to our hosts' hospitality, openness, friendliness and excellent cooking skills."
— SELENE from Switzerland

"We had such a wonderful and unique dining experience thru Betzavta. We were warmly welcomed by Maayan the second we arrived. The food is really fresh and tasty. We got to exchange personal stories and discuss many other interesting topics. What can be a better way to explore the local culture than meeting and eating with the locals while you are traveling? Betzavta is a great initiative that helps travelers mingle with friendly locals and create real connections beyond sightseeing. If you are seeking real Israeli experience, definitely don't miss Betzavta. "
